The combustion compartment of this flammable vapor ignition resistant (FVIR) water heater is sealed so air can only enter through a specific location. A ceramic flame arrestor prevents the flame created by burning vapors from spreading outside the appliance. This unit draws air through a grate at the bottom of the appliance.
