Figure 1. Although gasoline burns more rapidly on nonporous surfaces such as vinyl flooring, the fire damaged the carpeted side of this floor section more than the vinyl side.

Figure 3. Fire badly burned a carpet strip that joined sections of padded carpet, but there was no difference in damage from the side soaked in gasoline and the other side that did not have it.
