Here’s what you can expect from the Investigating Residential Dryer Fires seminar

  • Learn how residential dryers and their components work, fail and cause fires.
  • Not all dryers are the same – see how domestically made dryers vary among manufacturers and closely examine actual exemplars that show how they differ.
  • Analyze burned dryers and their components that have failed, causing fires.
  • Become more knowledgeable about identifying the manufacturer of a dryer once it has burned. (After a fire, these big, fire-rusted steel appliances can look nearly alike, but distinctive characteristics make most of them readily identifiable. Learn how to spot the differences.)
  • Witness fire-causing demonstrations involving residential dryers in our new forensic laboratory.
  • Take home questions to ask dryer users so you’ll gain the most background information possible.
  • Become familiar with the twists and turns a case can take and what to expect from manufacturers and their experts.
  • Have questions? Your instructors have a world of experience about this important subject and other attendees may also have a great deal of experience. Fire Findings Editor, Jack Sanderson, leads this session and has enlisted other talented experts with years of experience in dryer failures. This will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions, meet others in the field and get answers to many of your questions.
